Hi, I’m Destiny Wiggins, a storyteller at heart with a passion for connecting communities through honest, impactful storytelling.

For nearly seven years, I worked as a television journalist across the country, from the cold streets of Bemidji, Minnesota, to the historic neighborhoods of Savannah, Georgia, and the vibrant communities of Central Florida. Along the way, I reported on everything from the Enbridge Line 3 Pipeline and local protests following the murder of George Floyd to infrastructure challenges and youth-focused community programs. Each story reminded me just how important it is to listen, to earn trust, build relationships, and shine a light on the voices too often overlooked.

Today, I serve as the Public Safety Public Information Officer for the City of DeLand’s Police and Fire Departments. In this role, I’ve found a powerful intersection between journalism and public service, where clear, compassionate communication can literally help save lives.

But at my core, I’ve never stopped being a reporter. That’s why I created this space: to tell real stories about real people, especially those experiencing homelessness. These are neighbors, not statistics. Their stories matter. My goal is to help you see them, hear them, and maybe even feel moved to help.
